Non-bakers unite! These Easy Peppermint Oreos are literally the easiest thing on your holiday agenda. With a few simple staples you’ll have everyone asking, “HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE!” Bonus, they’re naturally dairy-free too!

Why You Need to Make these Peppermint Oreos This Season
If you want to bring a touch of the homemade feel to your holiday gatherings but have no time nor energy to bake and measure precisely, then this is the recipe for you!
These Peppermint Oreos come together literally in no time flat and make the perfect edible gift to share with your loved ones this season. Bonus points because they freezer really well, too!
What You Need to Make Peppermint Oreo Cookies

- golden Oreo thins: buy the thins, seriously. It makes this taste like a cookie brittle and evenly distributes the sweetness! You can use the regular Oreos but I swear, the thins taste so much better in this!
- mini marshmallows: buy the mini, not the regular or some obscure shape as the mini help cover the most surface area on the grahams while baking evenly too.
- dairy-free white chocolate: I found this on Amazon after searching high and low everywhere for it at local markets. This is the brand I liked. However, in dairy-free recipe groups some note Walmart sells dairy-free white chocolate, but I could not find it!
- grapeseed oil: this is a neutral oil and lends well to melting the chocolate quickly in the microwave.
- peppermint candy: the peppermint discs (or starlights as they are frequently called) are the easiest to unwrap quickly, however you can always use candy canes too.
INGREDIENT SWAPS
To make this recipe fit your lifestyle, consider these swaps:
- dairy-free: note, this recipe is made DF. But, to make sure, use dairy-free chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows are usually dairy-free but always double check as manufacturers will vary as far as ingredients
- gluten-free: swap for gluten-free graham crackers or pretzels
- vegan: use cinnamon graham crackers made without honey and vegan marshmallows
And, if you prefer the chocolate Oreos, feel free to swap the Golden for regular Oreo Thins and use dark dairy-free chocolate instead!
How to Make Candy Cake Style Oreos
Say it with me, “You cannot mess up this recipe!” It’s literally fool proof, let me show you how to make it!
- Line Oreo thins on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place 3 mini marshmallows over the top of each Oreo.
- Bake for 3 to 5 minutes at 350 degrees F until marshmallows are slightly cooked and gooey.
- While baking, heat chocolate with grapeseed oil in microwave until melted in 30 second intervals. Remove baking sheet and drizzle white chocolate over Oreo thins.
- Sprinkle crushed peppermint over the top.

And when I say sprinkle crushed peppermint on top… I mean a GENEROUS sprinkle!

Plate and enjoy!

Recipe Tips
To make this recipe work like a charm, every time, keep these tips in mind!
- Do not stack your Oreos on top of one another! You want to make sure each thin gets a little chocolate on it!
- Watch the oven time, you don’t want them to get that campfire burn taste! Once the tops start looking a bit soft and “gooey”, remove the baking sheet.
- When melting chocolate, be sure to do so in the intervals mentioned above. Burning the chocolate will result in a bitter taste.
- Once you have the peppermint unwrapped, use a metal ladle or your meat mallet to crush them in a ziplock bag (it makes the least amount of mess.)

How to Store Your Holiday Peppermint Oreos
If enjoying within a week, store in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator to prevent melting.
If making ahead to enjoy later in the season, then freeze in an airtight container. Note, you can also do this if you just enjoy the crunchier cookie straight out of the freezer like me!
If making for a gift box, be sure to store the boxes in a cool area so the chocolate does not melt!
