10 Gifts for Wanna Be Mamas for Mothers Day
Hey there friends,
So, it’s that time of year, again.
And, if you’re like me, you’re still waiting to fill your morning with breakfast in bed smiles from your little ones and an all day affair of showering mom with joy!
Now, don’t get me wrong.
I absolutely love my mom! She deserves every bit and then some of affection, praise and thankfulness for the years she spent brining up my sisters and I.
But, these past few years, it’s been tough on Mothers Day. Maybe it’s because I look down and see the extra cushion from my hormonal and weight fluctuations with no little bundle to show for it, or because I’m reminded of the empty nest upstairs.
Nevertheless, it’s no secret, I, like many of you, want so badly to be a mom.
I want to wipe the snotty tears, clean the stinky diapers and buy those adorable tiny shoes too!
Yet, Someone bigger than us is challenging me, reminding me that hey, it’s not in my control.
Trust me Big guy, I get it!
So, rather than sit in self-pitty, I decided to give a subtle hint to my main squeeze that it’s okay to celebrate me too this year!
Why?
Because we all need a little cheer every now and then, and, most importantly, because we’ve walked the walk to become a mom and yet our cards aren’t quite there yet.
Now, for my mamas out there reading this, please know I do not intend to make you think I am a mom. I know loud and clear I am not!
But, I do feel that this year, this year I need to show myself a little self care too, and I hope you all do too!
So, here’s a list of my top 10 gifts to either buy yourself or get your better half to for you!
10 Gifts for Wanna Be Mamas for Mothers Day
- In Due Time – Hope & Encouragement in the Waiting
- This is an awesome book by a fellow TTC sister waiting for her time to hold her baby as well. I just got it but am SO exited to dive into it!
- If you get it to and want to be a part of my book club, let me know!
- Beauty Counter Products
- Tired of sifting through the endless array of products at the market that may or may not have questionable ingredients for your fertility? If you don’t have time to make your own, check out the Beauty Counter line! A great solution for caring for you and your body!
- A Night Away
- Truth be told, I am in the process of booking this for my husband and I the Saturday before Mothers Day! We have a free night in a hotel down here in San Diego, so figured a staycation is just what we need to reset, reboot and tackle the coming weeks.
- Check out Groupon, Living Social, or Travelzoo for local deals in your area!
- Spa Treatment
- Get it! Yep, I’m talking the whole shebang! Paint those nails, massage those muscles, do whatever it is you like to do for you. The price you’ll pay will be nothing in comparison to the joy you’ll feel, something we all need on this journey.
- Jesus Calling
- I may sound like a broken record here, but I swear, this book is a life saver. Get it, read it, live it! It’s helped me through some dark hours and I promise, it’ll speak to you when no one else will! I’m not a church goer but believe you can find God in other places, like the comfort of your home and a good book. This is that place for me.
- A Nice Meal
- I get it, money is tight on this journey. But, again, using apps like Groupon and Living Social you can score a five course meal at a local restaurant for nearly 50% off. Schedule a you date and treat yourself to a food experience, leaving the stress of this journey to baby behind.
- Love, Faith & Infertility
- I just finished this book and boy oh boy was it a breath of fresh air. Nina, the author, gives a great dose of real talk and paints a picture anyone who’s been through a miscarriage, IVF or in the trenches of infertility can relate to. A great read if you need someone to relate to!
- A ME Present
- This will be different for each and every one of us! Now, a ME present for me is something usually for the kitchen, photography or working out! I’m thinking this year it’s going to be some new shorts for hiking!
- Aromatherapy Candles
- I love, love, love pretty smelling things! Don’t you? Treat yourself to something magical, like a nice lavender scent! Soak in a bath and just enjoy the moment, perhaps with a glass of wine, too!
Friends, I know this time of year isn’t easy, but rest assured, this too will pass. They’ll be a time in our future were we will hold our little bundle of joy and they too will look at us with love, admiration and respect!
Until then, big hugs and baby dust to you all!
Love,
Liz
