I diverted a little from the Garlic Gnocchi I intended to make, however was still able to prepare a quick and simple Chopped Garlic Turkey Salad. The fresh garlic really enhance the taste of the turkey and paired wonderfully with the warm pita bread. Dinner in under five minutes, yes please!

Now, as we head into the weekend I know I am not going to get to spend as much time in the kitchen as I would like. Yes, I am sure we all can say that, right?! But, I do plan on using two superfoods that are quick and conveniently incorporated so you can continue on your detoxification quest.
To kick off my Saturday, I plan on sneaking in the superspice cayenne to add a little zing into my egg white wrap. I happen to love the taste of spicy food, so much so that I have over eight bottles of hot sauce in my refrigerator. However, rather than pack on the sodium through the numerous shakes of the Tabasco, I will Simple-Swap it and choose a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.
Cayenne pepper is composed of the substance capsaicin, which has shown to not only lower the bad LDL cholesterol in our bodies, but also aids in preventing colon cancer as well as complications that occur with diabetes. The heat produced through consuming cayenne also increases a process called thermogenesis in our bodies that kick starts our calorie burn! Thus, consuming cayenne may mean losing weight…well isn’t that a win-win!
For those of you who can’t stomach the heat, don’t worry. You can still try to include the spice but in much smaller portions. Try starting with 1/2 tsp in a large pot of chili. For those of you who are like me and enjoy the heat, then by all means, sprinkle away!
